Pavol Breslik
Pavol Breslik (actually Bršlík , born March 9, 1979 in Kysucké Nové Mesto ) is a Slovak opera singer with a tenor voice .
Life
Pavol Breslik studied at the College of Arts in Banská Bystrica. Singing studies took him to the Cnipal Opera Studio in Marseille. He completed master classes with Mady Mesplé , Yvonne Minton , Peter Dvorsky and William Matteuzzi . In 2002 he appeared for the first time as Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore in the Klosterneuburg opera .
From 2003 to 2006 Pavol Breslik was a member of the ensemble at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden . There he sang a. a. Ferrando ( Così fan tutte ), Tamino ( Die Zauberflöte ), Don Ottavio ( Don Giovanni ), Steuermann ( The Flying Dutchman ), Kudrjasch ( Katja Kabanowa ) and Gottesnarr ( Boris Godunow .) In addition, he has made guest appearances on all major national and international opera stages , u. a. in London, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Zurich, Barcelona, Brussels, Salzburg and Bratislava. On June 14, 2008 he sang Idamante in the opera Idomeneo on the occasion of the reopening of the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich .
From 2012/13 to 2017/18 Pavol Breslik belonged to the ensemble of the Zurich Opera House , where he played as Steva Buryja ( Jenůfa ), Don Ottavio, Faust (Gounods Faust ), Roberto Devereux ( Roberto Devereux ), Peter Quint ( The Turn of the Screw ), Alfredo ( La traviata ), Belmonte ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ), Macduff ( Macbeth ), Nemorino, Nadir ( Les pêcheurs de perles ) , Lenski ( Eugene Onegin ) and Leicester ( Maria Stuarda ) .
In early 2016 he made his house debut as Nadir at Opera Australia in Sydney.
Pavol Breslik sang the roles of Belmonte, Cassio ( Otello ), Ottavio, Tamino, Nemorino, Lenski, Edgardo ( Lucia di Lammermoor ) with Diana Damrau , Alfredo, Fenton ( Falstaff ) and Steva at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich .
At the opening of the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie on January 11, 2017, he sang the world premiere of Reminiscence / Triptych and Spruch in memoriam Hans Henny Jahnn by the composer Wolfgang Rihm - a work commissioned by NDR on the occasion of the opening concert.
Pavol Breslik is a popular song and concert singer. Highlights of his concert activities were his appearances at the BBC Proms with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, in London, Paris and Lille, as well as with the Concert d'Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm at the Edinburgh Festival and on the occasion of the reopening of the Dresden Frauenkirche, as well as his singing performances from opera and Operetta at the AIDS gala on November 11, 2007 in Berlin. He also sang on the concert stage at the Salzburg Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 2014 he gave a recital at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg . Together with Anna Netrebko , Juan Diego Flórez and the Staatskapelle Dresden under Christian Thielemann , Pavol Breslik sang Count Boni in a concert performance of Die Csárdásfürstin as part of the 2014 New Year's Eve concert at the Semperoper Dresden.
The singer worked with many well-known conductors. So u. a. with Daniel Barenboim , Lawrence Foster , Kurt Masur , Sir Colin Davis , Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos , Kirill Petrenko , Christian Thielemann and Riccardo Muti . In 2009 he sang Gennaro in Lucrezia Borgia at the Bavarian State Opera alongside Edita Gruberová . Shortly afterwards he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Don Ottavio, and on the occasion of Gruberova's last appearance as Violetta on December 21, 2010, he made his debut at Gasteig (December 11) and at the Wiener Musikverein in the role of Alfredo.

- In 2005 the artist was voted “Young Singer of the Year” by Opernwelt magazine .
- 2017 CD Mozart (Orfeo 2016 with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester under Patrick Lange) nominated for the Gramophone Award 2017.
- In 2018 he won the Tatra Banka Foundation Prize for Art (Music category) for his interpretation of the role of Jeník in The Bartered Bride in Bratislava.
