action

In the absence of research or monitoring assignments, private detective Josef Matula took over the transfer of a sailing yacht from the Côte d'Azur to Mallorca. When he arrives at the port of destination, he realizes that his client has not yet arrived, which is why Matula makes the acquaintance of Ingo Schumann, a likeable German early retiree and his companion Karin Weißbach. As the yacht owner's arrival is delayed, Matula spends the night on the ship. The next morning he discovers Ingo Schumann, dead floating in the water. The police initially assume that the man had an unfortunate accident, but soon there are signs of a homicide. The party drug Liquid Ecstasy can be detected in the blood of the victim and Schumann was obviously thrown into the water after the drug made him unconscious. Karin Weißbach comes under suspicion, who immediately hires Matula to help her. During his research, Matula soon finds out that Schumann seemed to lead a double life. Because while he had amused himself with Weissbach on his rented yacht, his partner Angela Bremer was waiting on the island. He was known to her as Malte Schuster. Bremer's Nochehemann, a local building contractor, is a possible culprit in Matula's opinion, because Schuhmann / Schuster not only had Robert Bremer unhooked his wife, but also received a large amount of money from her, which Bremer actually urgently needed for his company. During his research, however, Matula also comes across indications that his client was pursuing similar goals as Schuhmann / Schuster. She, too, apparently informs herself about wealthy potential partners in order to be endured by the men. Therefore, the detective is not sure whether Weissbach is really innocent. Nevertheless, Matula continues to follow his assumption that Bremer has something to do with the death of Schuhmann / Schuster. He finds out that Schuhmann / Schuster still had a third identity and that Malte Schubert had a nightclub and a wife with a child. Matula speaks with Maria Schubert-Sanchez and learns from her that she knew about her husband's adventures, but allegedly tolerated them. Matula had doubts about this, however, and so he discovered that Sanchez had teamed up with Angela Bremer to get revenge on Schuhmann / Schuster / Schubert. Sanchez provided her allies with an alibi while Angela Bremer committed the murder. In order to prove this to the women, he tries to get them to confess. This works because Matula lures Sanchez to Bremer with a trick and can thus prove that the two know each other. Since Bremer secretly mixes liquid ecstasy in a glass for the detective and assumes that she can clear him out of the way like a cobbler, she actually admits the murder to him. But Matula had changed the glasses and just pretended to be unconscious in order to secretly record the confession with his cell phone, which he then turned over to the police as evidence.

Reviews

Harald Keller from tittelbach.tv said: “A sophisticated case in front of an attractive backdrop. No 'event television', but an exceptionally well-crafted holiday thriller that is entertaining on several levels. ”“ Daniel Helfer's direction and Mathias Neumann's camera work are as patent as Braeunlich's script. There are always small refinements such as the subjective perspective of a secret observer or several short plan sequences (Steadycam: Lorenz Till Ackermann). The scenes change frequently and are sometimes extremely narrow, like the cabin of the yacht, but the cameramen and editor Jens Müller consistently manage to create the necessary sense of space. "
