Stefan Weinert (born April 26, 1964 in Cologne ) is a German actor , director , film producer and set designer .

biography

Weinert first appeared in a leading role in Tchaikovsky at the age of 22 . After several successful theater productions, in which he always played the leading role, he decided to switch sides and studied stage design and film design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1991 he completed his studies with Axel Manthey and Klaus Zehelein as a master student with a master's degree .

In 1991 Weinert moved to Barcelona , where he worked as an art director and as a set designer a. a. in opera houses such as the Vienna State Opera or Cologne Opera . In 1995 he was in Barcelona in front of the camera in Manuel Poll's film Pan , where he discovered the medium of film for himself. With short stops and camera acting classes in New York , Geneva and Vienna , he moved back to Germany in 1997, where he has since worked mainly as a film actor.

Weinert has played in international cinema productions since 2001, in which he stood in front of the camera with Patrick Swayze , Val Kilmer , Michael Duncan , Tim Toth, Mena Suvari , Piper Perabo , Catherine Deneuve and Tchéky Karyo .

In addition to his work as an actor, since 2000 he has worked as a director and producer of short films such as Saturday Night , The right one , Always Sergej , Carnival, with which he represented Germany at film festivals.

On February 8, 2009, his first 90-minute documentary, Face to the Wall, premiered at the Volksbühne Berlin, for which Weinert was responsible for the book, production and direction. Weinert was supported in this by the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial .

On October 9th, 2009, the Wiesbaden Film Evaluation Board awarded Face to the Wall the title of “particularly valuable” and “Documentary of the Month”.

On August 23, 2013, his second feature documentary Die Familie premiered at the Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal, where Weinert was again responsible for the book, production and direction.

On July 31, 2013, the family was awarded the title “particularly valuable” and “documentary of the month” by the Wiesbaden film evaluation agency.
