George and the Dragon ( George and the Dragon ) is an American-German-British fantasy film directed by Tom Reeve in 2004. The film was as from February 8, 2005 DVD sold.

action

The English knight George returns from a crusade. His dearest wishes are to stop fighting, get married at home, and live in a small estate with two cows, just big enough for his family. At the beginning he is on the road with the Moorish Tarik, whom he met as a friend during the crusade. They discover and help Father Bernard, who is fleeing from the residents of a village.

They part ways and George crosses over to England with Father Bernard.

At home he first visits his father, who tells him again his story of a previous dragon fight. Among other things, because George doubts it, his father hands him a horn, which is said to be made from a dragon's claw.

On this occasion he also meets a boy (Wryn), from whose perspective parts of the film are told.

George moves on. In a tavern he meets Garth, who gives him an audience with the king. Days earlier, his daughter, Princess Luma, disappeared without a trace after she had been promised to be Garth's wife.

At the audience he hands the king his father's horn, which is recognized by the king. He recognizes in George the son of his old friend.

Then he is to find the missing Princess Luma on behalf of the king, together with Garth. While searching, George and his companions are separated from Garth and his entourage. They then meet Wryn, who supports them as an archer.

George finds Princess Luma in a cave where she is tending a dragon egg. To the astonishment of George and his people, the princess has a good relationship with the dragon, who has been missing for a few days. She wants to save the dragon egg because it is the last of its kind.

The group around George and Luma make their way back to the king. The dragon egg is transported with a cart. On the way, the group meets some nuns in a monastery and they meet Father Bernard again.

The group around George and Luma also meets Garth and his entourage again. Garth wants to become king himself by marrying Princess Luma.

A group of looters appears. The leader reveals himself to be Tarik. This has meanwhile become the leader by defeating the original leader in a duel. Tarik is forcibly removed from his gang as a leader. The group around George and Luma now fight together with Tarik the gang that tries to kidnap Luma and demand a ransom from the king.

While George and Tarik defeat the gang, Luma rejects Garth's marriage proposal. He then tries to force her to marry and kidnaps her. George and his companions pursue Garth.

Since the dragon egg was discovered, George had been reluctant to give in to the princess's urging to save the dragon egg from destruction. Shortly before the end of the film, during the fight with Garth and his entourage, he recognizes the dragon mother who laid the egg, the dragon that his father had mentioned in his stories.

Realizing that these stories were true, he also develops compassion for the dragons. So he helps the mother dragon by removing a lance from her. This lance has been in the dragon's body since the dragon's fight with George's father. He also helps the dragons escape by suggesting to everyone that he killed the dragon and the boy in battle. As proof of this he shows the bloody lance. Disgusted by Garth, who wanted to force her to marry in order to become king himself, and by George, whom she believes to be the dragon slayer, the princess flees.

George follows her on a horse that the king had given him, but is overtaken by Garth. There is a duel on the shores of the lake into which the dragon and the boy had retired. Garth is eaten by the dragon mother who suddenly appears.

Luma realizes that George saved the dragons. The film ends with a shot of George and Luma kissing.
