James Purefoy (2012)

James Purefoy (born June 3, 1964 in Taunton , Somerset ) is a British actor .

Life

Purefoy studied acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama and began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company . Originally only scheduled for a supporting role, he stayed for two years and played among others Edgar in King Lear and Malcolm in Macbeth . He continued to work at the theater , but over the next few years repeatedly took on television roles before he finally made it to the big screen. He was best known to a large audience as Prince Edward in the Hollywood film Knights from Passion at the side of Heath Ledger and Paul Bettany . This was followed by roles in Resident Evil and George and the Dragon's Egg .

In 2005 he was the original actor of the masked avenger in the film V for Vendetta , but got out of the ongoing filming due to artistic differences and was replaced by Hugo Weaving . The scenes already filmed with Purefoy were dubbed by Weaving.

Despite his box office success, he continues to work in television, he took the title role in Blackbeard: Terror at Sea and Beau Brummell . From 2005 to 2007 he played Mark Antony in the television series Rome . In February 2012, he was for Kevin Williamson thriller series The Following station's Fox occupied, in which he the serial killer embodies Joe Carroll. In 2014 he played the rival of David Guetta in the music video for his single Dangerous .

Purefoy has a son from a previous relationship with actress Holly Aird . In 2014 he married his longtime girlfriend Jessica Adams. The couple have a daughter together.
