Richard van Weyden

Richard van Weyden (born April 22, 1966 in Neunkirchen / Saar , according to other sources in Heiligenwald / Schiffweiler ) is a German actor and voice actor .

Life

Richard van Weyden was born in Saarland , where he also spent his earliest childhood, as the son of a miner . Other stages of his childhood were Nancy , Hamburg , Berlin , Hong Kong and Cape Town . After the family moved several times, he finally attended school in Frankfurt am Main . He dropped out of school and took a variety of odd jobs. At the age of 17 he went to Rome . After his return to Frankfurt am Main, he finished school and started working for the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt as a stage worker, technician and extra. He wanted to become an actor, was a member of various independent, freelance acting groups and initially worked as a prop master, lighting and sound engineer, set designer and assistant director. In Frankfurt he was discovered for the theater by the director Michael Cacoyannis and in 1987 he was engaged for a small role in a Frankfurt opera production by Cacoyannis. He finally completed his acting training in Munich (Actorshouse Munich), where he also trained as a dubbing and advertising spokesman, and in Frankfurt (at the ART Studios Frankfurt). He received private acting lessons from Ulrich Wildgruber .

Van Weyden had theater engagements at the Kammerspiele Frankfurt (1989; in Korbes , director: Dietrich Hilsdorf ), at the Dramati Theater Frankfurt (between 1993 and 1996 several times under the director Thorsten Morawietz in various Shakespeare adaptations), at the Mainz Kammerspiele (1989) and at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival (1999). In 2003 he performed a modern version of the operetta Ein Walzertraum at the Frankfurt Opera ; he took on the speaking role of a suicide haunted by the plot, declaiming texts by Otto Weininger . In 2005 he played at the Mainzer Kammerspiele in the play The Pillow Man (director: Martin Plass). In autumn 2005 he took on the role of the beautiful boy at the Frankfurt Dramatic Stage in the Shakespeare adaptation A Midsummer Night's Dream , the first feature film by the Frankfurt Dramatic Stage.

Since the late 1990s he has also regularly taken on roles in film and television productions, where he was initially only used in prominent supporting roles, including several times by director Maris Pfeiffer . This was followed by several short films and a supporting role in the movie March Fever (2003, director: Thees Klahn ). Later he was often used in the role of the villain as an actor of shady characters.

In the TV movie Kidnapped - I'll Get You Out of There (2008) he was the police investigator clerk. In 2008 he was in a supporting role as Dr. Heinz Hochstädter can be seen in the TV film Mordshunger based on the novel by Frank Schätzing . In the US martial arts film Ninja Assassin (2009) he played the supporting role of the oriental prince Ibn Battuta. in the historical film Die Päpstin (2009) he played the churchman Eusthasius. In the fairy tale film Die Gänsemagd (2009) he played the small role of juggler. He played Senator Cowley in the 2011 science fiction film Nydenion . In the ZDF television film Der Fall Jakob von Metzler (2012) he played Suter, the head of the mobile task force . In the television thriller Der Ballermann - Ein Bulle auf Mallorca (2012) he played the dubious businessman and villain Enrico Sola. In Matthias Schweighöfer's film close-up (2013) he was Dr. Husemann, the treating doctor in the hospital. He starred in the feature film Welcome to Karastan (2015), directed by Ben Hopkins . He was the dictator Abashiliev and embodied, in a caftan , the despot of an imaginary Caucasus republic ; it was van Weyden's first leading role in an international film production.

In November 2015 van Weyden was in the crime scene: Spoilers starring alongside Maria Furtwängler in a leading role. He played the Luftwaffe Colonel Andreas Friedrichs, with whom Commissioner Charlotte Lindholm has an affair. In the Zurich crime thriller : Borchert's case (first broadcast: April 2016), he embodied the Swiss businessman and building contractor Matthias Duplessis at the side of Leslie Malton . In the crime series Der Taunuskrimi he has been the forensic scientist Christian Kröge since the beginning of 2017.

Richard van Weyden also took on several roles in television series . From 2007 to 2008 he had a continuous series role in the Sat1 action series GSG 9 - Your commitment is your life . He played Anton Bender, the assistant to the analyst Petra Helmholtz ( Florentine Lahme ). In 2013 he was seen in the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig alongside Anouschka Renzi (as prostitute Morgana) and Michaela Rosen in a leading role as accountant and businessman Oskar Hansen; he played the husband of the brothel boss Maria Hansen. In the television series Borgia he took on the supporting role of the composer Josquin Desprez in the second season of the series (2013) . In February 2016 van Weyden was seen in the ZDF crime series SOKO Munich in a leading role as "Soul Healer" and guru Marc Du Prel. In September 2016, another episode role followed as the dubious antiques dealer Cornelius Mannheimer in the ZDF crime series Heldt . In January 2017, van Weyden was also seen in the ZDF series The Public Prosecutor in the role of Judge Florian Plötz. In the 4th season of the ZDF series The Specialists - In the Name of the Victims (2019), van Weyden embodied the role of the defense lawyer and "half-silky celebrity lawyer" Dr. Herford, who several years ago represented a former SS-Sturmbannführer who later disappeared in court.

Richard von Weyden works extensively in dubbing, mainly in sound and dubbing studios in Frankfurt. It synchronizes movies, video games and computer games, etc. a. Arcania - Gothic 4 (2010). In Fallout: New Vegas (2010/2011) he dubbed a. a. Papa Khan. In almost all Uncharted offshoots, he lent the character Victor Sullivan ( Richard McGonagle ) his voice. Richard van Weyden is married to the Sicilian singer and songwriter Dea Lapi and has been the father of twins since May 2015. He lives in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt .
