Axel Mauritz Eriksson (born December 18, 1888 in Stockholm , † February 14, 1947 there ) was a Swedish sports shooter .

Mauritz Eriksson took part in three Olympic Games . At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he reached 14th place in the individual three-position fight with the free rifle. In the team competition, he finished first with Hugo Johansson , Erik Blomqvist , Carl Björkman , Bernhard Larsson and Gustaf Adolf Jonsson with a total of 5655 points ahead of Norway and Denmark and thus became Olympic champion . With the army rifle he finished the individual competition in 38th place, while he won the bronze medal with the team, which also included Hugo Johansson, Werner Jernström , Carl Björkman, Bernhard Larsson and Tönnes Björkman . In 1920 Eriksson started in Antwerp in eight disciplines. In the prone position with the army rifle over 600 m, like three other shooters, he achieved the best value of 59 points. Like Lloyd Spooner, he scored 56 points in the jump-off, against which he finally prevailed in a second jump-off with six to five hits. Gold went to Hugo Johansson, who scored 58 points in the first round of the jump-off. In the team competition, he secured bronze alongside Erik Blomqvist, Hugo Johansson, Gustaf Adolf Jonsson and Erik Ohlsson . Johansson won another bronze medal together with Olle Ericsson , Hugo Johansson, Walfrid Hellman and Leonard Lagerlöf in the standing position over 300 m with the team. In the other five disciplines, he placed in the top seven of the overall ranking. He finished the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris with the free rifle in the prone position over 600 m in 19th place and with the team over four distances in seventh place. He finished the lying position with the small bore in 24th place.

Eriksson won a total of eleven medals at world championships . He was world champion three times: in 1913 at Camp Perry he won the title with the army rifle in the three-position fight and in the standing position, in 1928 he won the title in Loosduinen in the prone position with the free rifle. In addition, he secured five silver and three bronze medals.
