Mauro Bärtsch (born April 10, 1985 ) is a Swiss duathlete and triathlete . He is the Ironman winner (2015) and is included in the list of Swiss triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Athletic career

Mauro Bärtsch has been running triathlons since 2011. After several competitions over the Olympic distance (1.5 km running, 40 km cycling and 10 km running), he decided in 2013 to start in competitions under the trademarks Ironman 70.3 and Ironman . He was trained by Joseph Spindler .

At the first Ironman 70.3 in Berlin, he qualified as the winner in the M25-29 age group for the season finale of the WTC at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas. When he first started over the Ironman distance, he won the age group 25-29 in Zurich and qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in 2013.

Since 2014 he had a professional license from Swiss Triathlon .
In August 2015, Bärtsch won the first edition of the Ironman Vichy (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running). At the Ironman Hawaii 2016, the then 31-year-old finished as the third fastest Swiss in 34th place, behind Ronnie Schildknecht (15th) and Ruedi Wild (21st). He has not appeared internationally since 2016.

Mauro Bärtsch studied at the University of St. Gallen from 2005 to 2011 and now works for Chameleon Asset Management AG .
