Max Kuhlemann

Max Kuhlemann (born October 12, 1857 in Hanover , † February 13, 1929 in Munich ) was a German chemist , manufacturer , chairman of the supervisory board and councilor of commerce .

Life

Born at the time of industrialization in the royal seat of what was then the Kingdom of Hanover , Max Kuhlemann received his first training at the Hanover secondary school and in Hildesheim at the local trade school . He expanded his theoretical and practical knowledge of chemistry , first while working in his father's shop, then in the Hanoverian Portland cement factory in Misburg .

After Max Kuhlemann had worked as a practical chemist in England for a few years , he joined the board of the Hanoverian Portland-Cementfabrik AG in 1884 .

Not until after the birth of his son, the future engineer and association politician Christian Kuhlemann , in 1891 the cement factory director played a key role in the development of community Misburg, as its promoters he was. For example, in 1898 he initiated the non-profit building association Misburg and was honored with more than just a street name in 1900.

Kuhlemann played a leading role in the Misburger Hafengesellschaft founded in 1912 , which he headed as managing director until the year of his death , followed in this position by his son Christian.

Max Kuhlemann was a member of the Association of German Portland Cement Manufacturers , of which he was elected treasurer in 1917. In addition, he sat on the supervisory boards of various industrial companies and was a member of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

Kuhlemann died in Munich in 1929.

Honors

While the business leader was still alive , Max-Kuhlemann-Straße , which was built in 1900 in the now Hanoverian district of Misburg-Süd , and Max-Kuhlemann-Platz, built in the same year, were named after the Kommerzienrat.
