Max Saelmans

Max Hermann Saelmans (born March 31, 1876 in Krefeld , † February 3, 1954 in Duisburg ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was mayor of Dinslaken (1911–1923).

Life

Born the son of a businessman, Saelmans studied law in Bonn and Munich after attending high school in Krefeld . During his studies in 1894 he became a member of the Alemannia Bonn fraternity . In 1897 he passed his exams and became Dr. iur. PhD . After the assessor examination in 1901, he became an assessor and trainee lawyer in Gummersbach in 1902, then worked in the Foreign Office in The Hague and in East Asia from 1902 to 1904 , before working as a court assessor at the Krefeld and Moers district courts until 1905 . After stints in Münster and Krefeld, he became a paid aldermen in Homberg (Rheinhessen) in 1908. From 1909 to 1911 he worked for Deutsche Warentreuhand AG , most recently as managing director of the Duisburg branch. From 1911 to 1923 he was mayor of Dinslaken, then a lawyer and notary in Duisburg.
