Maximilian Schirschin (born January 29, 1921 in Kranowitz , Upper Silesia , † May 16, 2013 in Rouen , Haute-Normandie ) was a German football player and football coach . After the war he lived in France.
Live and act
Max Schirschin began his football career as a teenager in Upper Silesia at the local Kranowitz 05 in Kranstät and switched to SpVgg Ratibor 03 in 1937 , then played for FC Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen , was called up for military service and took part in the German-Soviet War after 1941 . He was then transferred to the Western Front and was taken prisoner of war in Hyères on the French Mediterranean coast .
After his release, he decided to stay in France and became a football player in Ollioules on the Golfe du Lion . In 1947 he completed an engagement as a professional football player with the SCO Angers (2nd division) in the Pays de la Loire , played as a midfielder , then as a defender and stood out for his tenacity and perseverance. In 1948 Max Schirschin moved to Le Havre AC in Haute-Normandie , one of the best football clubs in the second division. Since 1950 he played in Normandy in the red jersey for FC Rouen .
He began his career as a football coach in 1955 in North Africa in Algiers at USM El Harach in El Harrach and moved to Union Sportive Football Fécamp (USFF) in Fécamp in Normandy in 1957 . In 1959 he returned to FC Rouen and succeeded in leading the "Red Daibels" into the top division (1st division) and in attracting and training young football players such as Philippe Poulian, Daniel Druda and Patrice Rio Jean-Pierre Destrumelle . The defeats of his team in the autumn of 1963 and the difficult relationship with Yvon Goujon led to his dismissal as coach in January 1964.
He left France for about two years and became a football coach for the national team KAA Gent (1964-1965) in Belgium and Fortuna Sittard (1965-1966) in the Netherlands . In the years 1966–1968 he coached the team at FC Metz (2nd division) and led them to the top position. In 1967 Max Schirschin was represented by Rene Fuchs and the team was relegated. In 1968 he returned to Normandy for Le Havre AC and led this team into the 2nd division.
In November 1971, after Pierre Tourniers was sacked, he was appointed head of his popular Rouen FC. His team closed the 1972 football season with a solid fourth place and Max Schirschin ended his football career at the age of 51.
