Max Schmidt (* 1968 in Munich ), known as Schmidt Max , is a German television presenter and actor .

Life

Born in Munich, he grew up with his parents and sister in Ottobrunn and later moved back to Munich. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather were already named Max , his great-grandfather had a stand at Munich's Viktualienmarkt .

Initially, Schmidt worked in the advertising film industry. The Bavarian television became aware of him through humorous films. Since 2003 Max Schmidt has moderated the biweekly broadcast magazine freizeit on Bayerischer Rundfunk . He also reports from the Munich Oktoberfest for Bavarian TV. He also played small supporting roles in various television films and series.

Schmidt also became known as an advertising figure for Castrol . From 2006 to 2007 he was seen in commercials for the chip brand funny-frisch on television and in the cinema.

Further engagements as an actor followed, for example in the series Munich 7 or in Tatort , and he also worked as a leading actor in some Bavarian films.

In August 2012, while filming for the ZDF crime thriller Hattinger - Der Chiemsee crime thriller , Schmidt was accidentally shot by his fellow actor Edgar Selge with a gas pistol that was accidentally loaded with blank cartridges. Schmidt was hospitalized for several days with a flesh wound.

Schmidt lives with his wife in Munich and on the Chiemsee and, in addition to his acting and moderating work , runs a small model construction company with a friend in which he does handicrafts himself. He is known for speaking exclusively Bavarian dialect . A special trademark of Schmidt Max has been his sideburns for many years , but he had to part with them for 3 months in 2014.
