Maxim Kaibchanowitsch Dadaschew ( Russian Максим Каибханович Дадашев ; born September 30, 1990 in Leningrad , Russia ; † July 23, 2019 in Cheverly , United States ) was a Russian professional boxer and was ranked 4th in the IBF world light welterweight rankings in July 2019 .

As an amateur, he was, among other things, Russian Junior Champion 2008 and silver medalist at the 2008 World Youth Championships in featherweight.

Amateur career

Maxim Dadaschew won a bronze medal in bantamweight at Russian junior championships in 2007 and a gold medal in featherweight in 2008. He was then qualified for the World Youth Championships in Mexico in 2008 , where he was only defeated in the final against Óscar Valdez and won the silver medal.

In the adults he won the 2010 Russian Summer Spartakiad and won bronze at the Russian Championships when he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the lightweight against Albert Selimow . In 2012 he won bronze at the light welterweight division, after losing in the semifinals to Armen Sakarjan . At the Russian Championships 2013 he lost in the final of the light welterweight against Vitaly Dunaizew and was runner-up.

Until 2014 he boxed for the Russian Boxing Team in the World Series of Boxing and in 2013 also won a bronze medal in the light welterweight division at the World Combat Games in Russia. At the 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan , he was knocked out in the round of 16 just 1: 2 against Dean Walsh .

Overall he won 281 of 301 fights as an amateur.

Professional career

Maxim Dadaschew was under contract as a professional with the US promoter Top Rank and was managed by Egis Klimas, as well as coached by Marco Contreras and Buddy McGirt . He made his professional debut on April 2, 2016 in Port Hueneme , California . Dadashev lived with his wife and son, born in 2016, in Oxnard, California .

Dadashev boxed exclusively in the United States and remained undefeated in 13 fights. His most important victory to date was achieved on June 9, 2018, when he was able to defeat Darleys Pérez in Las Vegas by TKO in the tenth round and thereby won the NABF light welterweight title. On October 20, 2018, he defeated Antonio DeMarco unanimously on points in a title defense .

On July 19, 2019, in the fight for position 2 in the IBF world rankings, he lost to Subriel Matías by breaking off his corner of the ring . After the fight, Dadashev collapsed on the way to the cabin and was hospitalized, where he was placed in an artificial coma after an emergency operation. Four days later, Dadashev died as a result of his injuries.
