Mechthild Czapek-Bushman

Mechthild Czapek-Buschmann (born April 17, 1871 as Mechthild Buschmann in Cologne , † October 3, 1931 in Berlin ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Mechthild Buschmann, sister of Hedwig Buschmann (1872–1950), a sculptor and designer of reform clothing , trained as a painter through private lessons, among others with Walter Petersen and Arthur Kampf in Düsseldorf . In 1903 she married the Austrian painter and art theorist Rudolf Czapek , with whom she lived in Munich , Berlin, Deggendorf , Würzburg , Hamburg and later again in Berlin. Among other things, she created posters and bookplates . In the 1920s she designed and made colored hats from crocheted wool. In 1931 she passed away by suicide .
