Mecway (also Mecway FEA ) is a commercially available finite element software with a focus on mechanical and thermal solid-state simulation . It has been (further) developed and maintained by Mecway Limited ( New Zealand ) since 2013 based on the source code of the LISA program package.

Functionalities

Mecway is used to solve linear and non-linear physical problems from structural mechanics , heat conduction , acoustics , electrodynamics and combined tasks. In addition to a graphical user interface, it has an integrated network modeler ( preprocessor ), a multi-strand solver and a graphical postprocessor . Due to the seamless interoperability with the integrated CalculiX-Solver (CCX) there is also the possibility to use its extensive analysis capabilities - especially for non-linear and anisotropic models.

The FE mesh generation can be done manually or automatically using imported geometry models. For this purpose, the program offers the possibility of reading in geometry data in the file formats commonly used for CAD programs ( STEP , IGES , STL , DXF ).

The following analysis modules are available:

Development history

Mecway is a spin-off of the program package LISA ( Li near S tatic A nalysis System), which had previously been about 20 years - most recently Sonnenhof Holdings in Canada had been developed -. Victor Kemp, programmer at LISA, left the company and founded his own company in 2013 to further develop and market the software under a new name. There is an agreement between LISA and Mecway to sell their respective program packages based on the same original source code .

A total of thirteen release versions of Mecway have appeared since the beginning of 2014 .
