The Medebek is a small stream in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck .
course
It rises in the St. Gertrud district in the Marli / Brandenbaum district, in the former Wesloe district, west of the Wesloer Wiesen and north of the Wesloer Landstrasse. It flows in a north-easterly direction through the Lauerholz , further under the Travemünder Allee, now slightly west along the Medebekstraße, which gives it its name, and finally flows into the Schellbruch nature reserve and thus into the Trave south of the Schwartau confluence and the peninsula on the was once located in Liubice , Alt-Lübeck.
history
In the past, the Medebek was the scene of various renaturation attempts , including a 175,000 euro project that was approved and carried out in 2002. The Medebek is an important receiving water for St. Gertrud, which directs surface water from the built-up areas into the forest, where it is urgently needed. It is now far less polluted than it was a few years ago and again offers relatively good water quality and biodiversity.
