Margaret Gillespie "Meg" Wyllie (born February 15, 1917 in Honolulu , Hawaii , † January 2, 2002 in Glendale , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Margaret Gillespie "Meg" Wyllie was born in Hawaii. When her father found work as an engineer on a sugar plantation, the family moved to the Philippines , where they stayed until the early 1940s. When she returned to the United States, she then moved to New York City . After initial appearances in the theater, Wyllie moved to Los Angeles, where she studied acting and performed at the Pasadena Playhouse .

She was regularly seen on television since the early 1950s. She starred in television series such as Perry Mason , Batman and In Love with a Witch , while she has not appeared on the screen in films like Marnie and Schlappe Bullen Bite . She gained greater fame with the portrayal of a Talosian in the original pilot of the television series Starship Enterprise . In The Cage , she became Star Trek's first antagonist . The pilot film was rejected at the time, however, and its scenes were only used in the double episode Talos IV - Tabu before it was finally broadcast in 1988. By 1995 she played in over 120 film and television productions. Sometimes she embodied different characters in several series. From 1987 to 1991 she was seen four times in the sitcom Golden Girls in four different roles. She last appeared in 1995 in the role of Aunt Lolly Stemple in the sitcom Crazy About You .

On January 2, 2002, Wyllie died in Glendale at the age of 84 from complications from a heart attack . She remained unmarried and had no children.
