My nights are more beautiful than your days (original title: Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours ) is a French drama from 1989. Andrzej Żuławski directed and wrote the screenplay. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Raphaële Billetdoux .

Lucas is a talented and successful computer scientist. He is developing a new programming language . At the same time, he learns that his brain is infected with a virus. He is terminally ill and increasingly loses his memory and his ability to speak.

Lucas meets the attractive clairvoyant Blanche, falls in love with her and follows her to Biarritz , where she makes acclaimed appearances. At this point he only has a few hours to live. He lives in the luxury suite of a hotel, where Blanche visits him. First they spend the night in the same bed, later they become lovers. Blanche takes a remark from Lucas at breakfast as a bad joke. She later realizes that this is how the disease manifests itself.

She recognizes the near end of his life and falls into deep sadness, while Lucas becomes more and more eccentric. At the end of the day the couple plunged into the sea, kissing.

Rotten Tomatoes wrote that the film was a "penetrating" drama and a "fascinating study" of the very unusual relationship. He is "saturated" with sadness andsimilar tothe drama Doom by Louis Malle .

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was “a smartly styled melodrama enriched with literary and pseudo-analytical ingredients that focuses on the representation of emotional excesses”. It is "a banality of arts and crafts with high-quality dialogues, expressive imagery and exalted main actors". The magazine TVdirekt wrote that the film offers “art cinema that understands feelings”.
