Meinhart Volkamer

Meinhart Volkamer (born May 3, 1936 in Leipzig ) is a German educationalist .

Life

Volkamer took the first state examination in Freiburg im Breisgau in the subjects of sport and German, and in Marburg he passed the second state examination as a study assessor for these two subjects. He then worked as a research assistant at Kiel University for six years . At the same time, he studied psychology there - the subject in which he received his doctorate in 1969.

From 1969 to 2001 he was professor for sports education at the University of Osnabrück . After that he was retired .

At the beginning of his professional activity he was a pedagogically thinking psychologist and later became a psychologically thinking educator . During his professional career he worked in all three areas that are essential for sports teacher training (sports theory, sports practice and practical school studies) and in many lectures and essays he accompanied the development of sports education in theory and practice in a critical and constructive manner . His main research interests were: aggression in sport, mental training , measuring and censoring in physical education, problems of the physical education teacher role, teacher behavior, sport in school / in a club and the language of the teacher.

Volkamer is best known for the development of the standardized motor test for four to six year old children (in collaboration with Renate Zimmer ) and some of his books.
