Melanie Horeschovsky

Melanie Horeschovsky (born November 26, 1901 in Vienna , † February 13, 1983 in Munich ) was an Austrian actress.

Life

Born in Vienna, she attended the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in her hometown and began her acting career in 1925 with the role of Rosa in the Schwank Der Raub der Sabinerinnen at the Munich Kammerspiele . Melanie Horeschovsky came to the Burgtheater in 1931 via the Dresden Albert Theater and several Viennese theaters and was brought in front of the camera by director Otto Preminger for a film role that same year .

After the war she continued her work on theaters in Vienna and Munich. There she played in classics such as Faust , Romeo and Juliet , The Threepenny Opera and in the musical Gigi .

Melanie Horeschovsky also played in some television productions, such as Tatort in 1982 . Shortly before her death in 1983, the director Michael Verhoeven , who had previously used Horeschovsky in some of his productions, dedicated the television play Liebe Melanie to her , in which she played the title role.
