Melisa Wallack

Melisa Lee Wallack (born April 18, 1968 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American director and screenwriter .

Life

Wallack attended Skidmore College and graduated with a BA in English and a BS in Business. She and her sister started a company in their home state of Minnesota that did paperwork for large corporations. Eventually they moved to a new office in Los Angeles . There she came into contact with writers several times and then decided to try herself as a screenwriter.

Her first work was Meet Bill (2007), for which she wrote the screenplay and also directed with Bernie Goldmann . She then conceived the story for the fantasy comedy Spieglein Spieglein - The Really True Story of Snow White (2012), in which Tarsem Singh acted as director and which was brought to the screen with Julia Roberts , Lily Collins and Armie Hammer, among others .

In 2005, Wallack was named one of 10 Screenwriters to Watch by Variety . For her work on the script for Dallas Buyers Club , she was nominated for an Oscar for the first time in 2014 together with Craig Borten .
