The Melita is a catamaran operated by the Croatian shipping company G&V Line Iadera .

history

The Melita was built under the name Helgelandsekspressen at the Norwegian shipyard Brødrene Aa in Hyen and was launched in 1985 and put into service. There she was in use for the Saltens Steamship Company on the Bodø - Nesna route , later also to Sandnessjøen . In June 1995 the ship was deployed in Flekkefjord and renamed Sørlandscruise on the Arendal - Oslo route . In 1997 it was chartered to the Rogaland Traffic Company and later used in traffic in Stavanger and Flekkefjord. In January 1998 it operated on the Oslo – Slemmestad route . In January 1998 the ship was sold to Agder Cruise and renamed Risørgenta . It was used again between Arendal and Oslo. In 2001 the ship was sold to the Stavangerke Westamarin in Stavanger and renamed Hidle . The shipping company used the catamaran as a replacement ship and has since chartered it to Torghatten Trafikkselskap in Brønnøysund .

On May 28, 2004 the ship to Split in Croatia was sold to the company UTO Kapetan Luka and renamed to Mala Lara . In 2008, G&V Line bought the ship and used it as Melita on the Zadar - - Rava line . In 2013, after a restructuring of G&V Line, it became the property of the newly founded G&V Line Iadera . In addition to the Zadar – Iž – Rava line, the ship also serves the Zadar – SaliZaglav line . It is also in use on the Rijeka – Zadar line .

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by two four-stroke - diesel engines of manufacturer MTU (type: 12V396TB83) each with 1,150 kW power driven. The motors act on two propellers .

The passenger capacity of the ship is 180 people.
