Melonie Diaz (born April 25, 1984 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress of Puerto Rican descent.

Diaz made her debut opposite Denis Leary and Elizabeth Hurley in the 2001 crime comedy Double Whammy . She took on one of the bigger roles in the drama Summer in New York (2002). The supporting role in the drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) earned her a nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards 2007 . In the comedy Itty Bitty Titty Committee (2007) she starred as the lesbian high school graduate Anna ; Jenny Shimizu played one of the supporting roles in this film . In the music drama Feel the Noise (2007) Diaz played one of the bigger roles alongside Giancarlo Esposito .

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
