Jenny Lynn Shimizu (born June 16, 1967 in San José , California ) is a Japanese - American model , best known for her advertising for Calvin Klein . She also works regularly as an actress .

biography

Shimizu was born in June 1967 in San Jose, California, and grew up in Santa Maria . She received a scholarship to California State University at Northridge , but dropped out and moved to Los Angeles to become an auto mechanic . Soon after, a modeling agent became aware of her because of her unique androgynous appearance and introduced her to Calvin Klein . The designer was enthusiastic about Shimizu and booked her as one of the faces for the black and white campaign for his perfume ck One. Shimizu later ran on the catwalk for Calvin Klein.

After Shimizu appeared on a billboard for Banana Republic in New York's Times Square , she also received orders from fashion labels such as Versace , Prada , Jean Paul Gaultier , Donna Karan , Levi's and United Colors of Benetton, and Shiseido . She also modeled for the Pirelli calendar .

Shimizu has worked with a number of well-known photographers, including Mario Testino , Ellen von Unwerth , Bruce Weber , Michel Comte and David LaChapelle . Her photo series appeared in fashion magazines such as Vogue , Harper's Bazaar and Marie Claire .

In 1993 Shimizu had a cameo in Madonna's music video for the song Rain and had an affair with the singer. In 1995 Shimizu made her film debut in Ding Dong . She had her first leading role and her most famous screen appearance to date in Foxfire (1996) opposite Angelina Jolie , with whom she entered into a relationship during the filming. In 1999, Shimizu and actress Ione Skye became a brief couple.
