Menameradiel (until December 31, 2010: Menaldumadeel ( )) is a former rural community in the province of Friesland west of Leeuwarden ( West Frisian Ljouwert ) in the Netherlands . It was dissolved on January 1, 2018 and merged with the municipalities of Franekeradeel , Het Bildt and some villages of Littenseradiel to form the new municipality of Waadhoeke .
It had 13,437 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2017). The main town of the municipality was Menaldum (West Frisian Menamer ), about 9 km west of Leeuwarden and 8 km east of Franeker. The A31 motorway ran through the community from Harlingen (West Frisian Harns ) to Leeuwarden.
