action

Anja Bremer is a smart woman who not only takes care of the husband and children and the household, but also works part-time in a kindergarten. However, she has one problem: her husband Ulli has become too phlegmatic for her. After working as a fish market wholesaler, he spends most of his time in front of the television. He has long since buried his dreams of opening a bar himself.

When Anja is informed by her friend Marie that she has won almost a million euros in the lottery, she has conflicting thoughts in addition to the joy she feels. What will Ulli do when he finds out that they are rich, they fear that he will quit his job and set up his permanent residence in front of the television. When several attempts to tell Ulli about the win fail, Anja decides not to tell him anything, but rather to make Ulli's dream of her own restaurant come true with the help of her old friend Max Schweitzer, a tax advisor. A suitable property is found quickly. Now all that remains is to get Ulli to accept the offer made by Max. Anja wants to finance the renovation work for the restaurant with the money she has won, but in Ulli's eyes it should be presented in such a way that the property belongs to Max, who should tell him that he wants to invest part of his money. After a few teething problems, Ulli actually bites, which has a very positive effect on the couple's family and love life.

Ulli wants to offer molecular cuisine in the restaurant and immediately organizes a trial cooking for his family, which is a complete success. Ulli's mother Thea, who temporarily moved in with the Bremers, also takes part. Nobody in the family suspects that she is on the run from the bailiff, nor that she orders loads of goods on the Internet, especially dolls that Ulli later discovers in a separate area in his mother's apartment.

Max informs Anja that Ulli is spending the money with full hands, that he is an economic time bomb and just doesn't think in terms of numbers. If he continued like this, the million would soon be used up and she could forget her own dreams. It was a coincidence that Ulli discovered the truth shortly before the restaurant opened. However, his reaction is different from what Anja had hoped for, he moves out of home and doesn't want to know anything more about the restaurant. It is his best buddy Mike who has Ulli think about it all over again. And so it happens that the children pick up their mother from the singing lesson and bring them blindfolded to the restaurant that Ulli has now opened. After the couple has clarified that they both take to heart what is written in the small print, namely: "Everyone as he can, nobody as he has to," Ulli thanks his wife and surprises her with the fact that he is now also outside the house -Service will provide the kindergarten with food, which he has already clarified with her supervisor. The evening ends when Anja announces with a wink to her husband that she has won the lottery and wishes could be registered.

Audience rating

When it was first broadcast on September 14, 2012, the film was viewed by 3.65 million viewers, which corresponds to a market share of 12.5 percent.

criticism

The critic of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm awarded two out of three possible points for humor and one each for action and tension, which equates to a mean rating of "thumbs to the side" and was critical: "Lotto luck brings stress ... Too moral".

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv gave human mom! three out of six possible stars and said: “Nice - but pretty well thought out. Despite Birge Schade and Götz Schubert, this story, which has a certain charm as a fairytale-like experimental arrangement, does not jump over the sparks. "" Exceptional actress Birge Schade "sets the tone in the lightweight family film". Without “the top cast” Birge Schade, Götz Schubert, “this imaginary feel-good drama with its initial difficulties would probably be a problem for the remote control for many viewers,” Tittelbach continued. In order to "pass as 'serious' entertainment", "the marriage crisis soup is then too thin". In this dege film, "once again the connection between plot and narrative flow, between book ideas and staging, between 'morality' and sensuality" is incorrect.

Moviepilot couldn't get anything out of the film and wrote that the course of the plot was "so staid and unsympathetic" that the film was "difficult to bear". Above all, the plot is extremely dumb: “Whenever the husband is successful in the renovation, he behaves in a good mood at home, almost like a child. As soon as there is the slightest (and completely overdue!) Headwind during the renovation, he sits back in front of the telly, drinking beer in frustration, completely without motivation. So that the wife leaves everything to him again. The main thing is that the husband's child is satisfied. Ouch! "

On the evangelisch.de site , it was of the opinion that director Dirk Regel could have “staged the story a bit more gripping”, but “the characters are personable, the actors are convincingly natural” and “the conflicts are very realistic”. In addition, the script supplements the plot "with many attractive side scenes: the miserable food in kindergarten"; Ullis, played by Grit Böttcher, is a “neglected mother who compensates for her loneliness by investing her pension and a lot more in ominous Internet orders”, the “two children of the Bremers who persistently pursue their own goals "; and "of course Max's unfulfilled dedication, for which a suitable solution can also be found".

Oddsmeter.de found that “the trademarks of Degeto” are “sentimentality and exaggeration” - both are provided by “human mom” “in abundance”. The topic is actually a lot about broken dreams, but "if the Degeto trim the premise to what she thinks is family-friendly", that means "that she has to destroy all that in the same breath", " which could have been interesting ”. Unlike the vast majority of the reviews, it was with Quotenmeter believe [s] with their escalating gestures, the fake smile, the constant soundtrack and drawing of the quirks that the occupation starring translucent with Birge Schade "less successful their already quirky figure. "Götz Schubert, on the other hand, shows what one can still get out of such a staid ARD television film style". He put on his figure "more direct, clearer, more natural" and drives very well with it. Nadine Kösters was also rated positively in “her rather pale” as a “permanently annoyed teenager”.

The lexicon of international films, on the other hand, spoke of a "softly subtle (television) comedy about the blessings and curse of unexpected wealth" that was "well played" and "originally developed".
