The Merilin was named Cat No. 1 built for the shipping company Norden-Frisia in Australia . Other shipping companies such as Förde Reederei Seetouristik (20 percent), AG Ems (20 percent) and Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei (10 percent) were involved in the ship. With the Cat No. 1 , two daily departures from Cuxhaven to Helgoland and further departures from Borkum , Norderney , Langeoog , Sylt and Amrum were initially offered during the season . In 2001 the catamaran switched to the Hooksiel –Helgoland route , and from 2005 it went from Wilhelmshaven to Helgoland.

The ship was sold to the ferry company Linda Line Express in Tallinn with effect from December 20, 2006 . The reason for the sale were excessively high operating costs that could no longer be covered by correspondingly high fares. Since spring 2007, the new owner has been using it as a Merilin under the Estonian flag together with two hydrofoils in the liner service between Tallinn and Helsinki . In February 2017 the ship was sold to Daezer Shipping and renamed Eldorado . It has been for sale by a Korean ship broker in Busan since April 2017 .
