Mesquite is a city in close proximity to Dallas in the US state of Texas in Dallas County and Kaufman County .
history
The city was founded on May 22, 1873 by A. R. Alcott who bought the land of what is now Mesquite. Mesquite remained agricultural until after the Second World War . In 1950 the city had 1,696 inhabitants, in 1970 already 55,131 inhabitants. 1958 took place for the first time the championships in the rodeo in Mesquite. In 1986 the gates of the Mesquite Arena (now Resistol Arena) opened for the rodeo for the first time.
