Metobromuron is a chemical compound from the group of phenylureas , which was introduced by Ciba in 1963 as a herbicide .

Extraction and presentation

Metobromuron can be obtained from p -bromaniline and phosgene . Their product reacts further with N , O -dimethylhydroxylamine to form the end product.

use

Metobromuron is used as a pre-emergence herbicide in potato, tobacco, tomato, French bean, lamb's lettuce, soybean and sunflower cultivation.

Admission

The last approval for metobromuron in Germany expired in 2004. In 2014 the active ingredient was approved again by the European Commission.

In a number of EU countries, including Austria, Germany and Switzerland, plant protection products containing this active ingredient are approved.
