Pack (proper spelling: MEUTE) is an eleven Techno - marching band from Hamburg . The band rearranges techno, house and deep house works by well-known DJs and realizes the electronic beats with the instruments of a brass band . Meute has toured three continents so far, Europe, America, (southern) Africa, performing in various places, from the streets to music festivals and classical concert halls.

history

Meute was founded in 2015 on the initiative of trumpeter Thomas Burhorn. Had her breakthrough pack in spring 2016 when her video for the song Rej by Berlin DJ duo Âme by the social media became a viral hit. Meute achieved more than 400,000 views within a week with the YouTube video for their interpretation of the deep house song in the middle of Hamburg's Schanzenviertel .

After the release of their debut album Tumult in autumn 2017, club tours followed with performances in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Luxembourg. In the first two years the band will have over 150 concerts. In 2018 Meute took part in the ESNS and SXSW showcase festivals and was one of the most booked festival bands in Europe.

Meute brings acoustic techno to the streets with their acoustic guerrilla gigs. In June 2018, she gained international attention through her performance in Berlin with her rework of You & Me by Disclosure ( Flume Remix). By April 2020, the YouTube video had over 31 million views and is Meute's most successful single. Her guerrilla performance in Rome in October 2018 shifted the focus to the following single Hey Hey (Dennis Ferrer Remix) .

Meutes Reworks are also popular with the original artists of the arranged tracks. In 2017, Meute and Laurent Garnier performed together for the first time at the Yeah! . In 2018, Meute and Stephan Bodzin shared the stage at the Reperkusound Festival in Lyon.

In spring 2019, the band toured 14 countries and more than forty cities as part of their Europe 2019 tour . With the help of the Goethe-Institut , the band was able to play concerts in South Africa and Eswatini for the first time in May 2019 .

Meute went on her first North American tour in October 2019 with 14 appearances in the USA and Canada.

In October 2019, Meute released their first live album, Live In Paris , which was recorded at Le Trianon in Paris in March 2019 and consists of 14 previously released songs (singles or on album) and three previously unreleased tracks. Her second studio album, Pulse , followed in February 2020 , for the first time with three original compositions ( Raw , Endling and Holy Harbor ).

Meute supports projects by Musicians Without Borders on Music Moves.

style

The band uses techno , house and deep house tracks as the basis for their music . The works will be rearranged by the Hamburg musicians and adapted to the line-up of the band. By combining techno and the acoustic instruments of a brass band, Meute makes electronic music visible. The hypnotic monotony of the electro is retained, but the sterile sounds from the machine are replaced by the warmer sounding brass. The result sounds “symphonic. Hymn. Orchestral".

The band plays acoustically or amplified on large festival stages, in techno clubs and on the street. Due to their cross-genre performance, Meute also appears in classical institutions such as the Hamburg State Opera or the Vienna Konzerthaus .
