Michael Blanco (* 1987 in San Diego ) is an American jazz and theater musician ( double bass , composition ).

Blanco moved to New York City in 2000, where he has worked since then. a. works with John Ellis , Rich Perry , Will Vinson , Jonathan Kreisberg , David Cook , Aaron Goldberg , Adam Birnbaum , Mark Ferber , Ari Hoenig and Tomas Fujiwara . As part of the Department of State's Jazz Ambassador program , he toured South and Central America and the Caribbean in 2001, and the Middle East in 2008 on a touring program of Jazz at Lincoln Center . In addition to jazz, he works as a theater musician on Broadway , a. a. for productions such as Next to Normal , How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying , Chaplin and Grease as well as for various Broadway orchestras with which he has stars such as Carole King , Norah Jones , Clay Aiken , Lea Michele , Nick Jonas and Brooke Shields . accompanied. In 2006 he recorded his debut album In the Morning ( Fresh Sound Records ) with Alan Ferber , Rob Wilkerson , Rich Perry, Aaron Goldberg and Bill Campbell , for which he received the ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award .
