Michael Born (sports official)

Michael Born (born September 28, 1967 in Bad Berleburg ) is a German sport functional .

Life

Born completed an internship at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and at the Paderborn City Sports Department as part of his sports studies . There he then received a position in the field of talent search / talent promotion and marketing of major urban sports events. Via the talent development department, he came to TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus , where he took over the voluntary management of the youth department. Then Born took over the management of the association's office. On July 1, 1996 Born became managing director of the football club, on April 4, 2007 he also took over the post of sporting director. Under his leadership, the SC Paderborn 07 club managed to return to the 2nd Bundesliga . After a sporting downturn in the 2007/08 season , which ended with relegation to the 3rd soccer league , the club separated from Born on February 8, 2008.

On October 15, 2009 Born took over the post of managing director at FC Carl Zeiss Jena and held it until April 15, 2010. During this time he managed to save the club financially. The presidium and the supervisory board of the club decided, however, to part with Born and sports director Heiko Weber after a six-month probationary period . On July 1, 2011, he returned to SC Paderborn 07 , where he athletic director and managing sport was. As a result, the club managed by Born's leadership, in the 2013/14 season promotion to the Bundesliga . After the immediate relegation in the 2014/15 season and a sporty decline in the 2nd Bundesliga 2015/16 , the Born club took a leave of absence on March 16, 2016.

On May 30, 2016, Born was appointed commercial director of SG Dynamo Dresden as the successor to Robert Schäfer . He took up his post on June 15, 2016.
