Michael Broch

Michael Broch (* 1943 in Ulm ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and publicist . He works as a radio pastor and one of the speakers for the television program Das Wort zum Sonntag .

education

Michael Broch studied Catholic theology in Freiburg and Tübingen , where he passed his state examination with Joseph Ratzinger . At the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (IFP) in Munich, he completed a journalistic training for theologians.

Live and act

From 1975 to 1997 Broch was pastor in Mössingen . Since 1977 he has been writing radio programs and contributions in SWR and its predecessor channels SWF and SDR , as well as in DLF and Deutschlandradio . Until September 2013 he is the representative of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese at SWR . Since 2009 he has been the spokesman for Wort zum Sonntag on ARD . He works for various magazines and publishes his own publications.

After a newspaper interview critical of the Pope, Broch gave up the post of spiritual director of the IFP in Munich after a few weeks. Apparently he had been urged to do so by members of the German Bishops' Conference .

He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Society of Catholic Publicists in Germany .

Michael Broch lives in the Haigerloch district of Bad Imnau in the Zollernalb district .
