Criticism of Vicar General Fuchs

In dealing with sexual abuse by clergymen of the Regensburg diocese , serious allegations were made against Fuchs. In May 2010, the mayor of Riekofen accused the episcopal ordinariate of having "downright deceived" the parish. Vicar General Fuchs should have kept an eye on Pastor Peter K., who had a criminal record, and should have informed the Riekofen parish. There there were further sexual assaults by the priest.

In November 2014, Fuchs presented for the first time figures on positively resolved applications for recognition of sexual abuse suffered. Affected former "Domspatzen" criticized the fact that the report presented by Fuchs was "an inconclusive string of figures", "with which the diocese wanted to take pressure off the public discussion".

In January 2015, research by a journalist came to the conclusion that Vicar General Fuchs had systematically concealed the actual extent of sexual abuse in the diocese of Regensburg in his 2011 report. The report is based on the destruction of files on an extraordinarily large scale and a tendentious selection. Fuchs systematically cover up due to a “mixture of personal involvement, clerical protection of class and operational blindness”.
