Michael Gleich (* 1960 in Oberhundem ) is a science journalist , moderator and developer of journalistic projects.

Career

After graduating from high school in Lennestadt in 1979, Gleich studied journalism , sociology and history at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1984 he co-founded the journalists' office kontur, for which he wrote science reports. They appeared in GEO , stern , Weltwoche , natur , Brigitte and ZEIT magazine , among others . From 1989 to 1992 he worked as an editor for the magazine natur in Munich, since 1993 again as a freelance journalist. He lives on the spiritually influenced Saunstorf estate near Wismar .

For his project Peace Counts , journalists and photographers traveled to over thirty conflict regions and documented the work of peace makers who resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner and demonstrably successfully. The results appeared as articles in European magazines, as a multi-part radio series, as well as a website, book, CD-ROM for school lessons and were used in conferences and a photo exhibition. Multimedia projects initiated by the same, such as Life Counts, Culture Counts and Peace Counts, pursue the concept of constructive journalism . Immediately one of the first to use this term in Germany. He was made a Fellow of the international organization Ashoka for the concept .

Gleich looks after booklets and book concepts for publishers (GEOspezial India , GEOextra The 21st Century , CIPRA: Der Alpenreport 2 and 3 ). He develops communication concepts, magazines and reports for companies. Michael Gleich moderates panel discussions and conferences on the topics of mobility, peace, development and the environment. He wrote essays on cultural diversity for the online magazine ChangeX .

In 2016 he initiated the first Global Peacebuilders Summit, a summit for leading civil society peace makers from worldwide crisis areas.

He propagates the concept of "constructive journalism", which does not stop at describing global problems, but researches and publishes possible solutions. In order to practice, teach and develop it, he founded the Culture Counts Foundation gGmbH with the journalist Tilman Wörtz. She set up a radio school for peace journalists in Ivory Coast, Studio Mozaik, and has been publishing "MUT - magazin for solutions" once a year since 2016, as a supplement to major daily newspapers and specialist journalistic magazines.
