Michael Has (born January 30, 1959 in Bremen ) is a German human rights activist , physicist and professor at the University of Grenoble .

Life

After two professional training courses, Has studied physics at the University of Regensburg . There he received his doctorate with his work in the field of biophysics and spent the first part of his career at Fogra doing industrial research. In the course of this activity he founded the predecessor organization of the International Color Consortium (ICC), of which he was the first technical secretary.

Has then became active in various advisory bodies (e.g. at Linotype ), held positions on the board (e.g. at TAGA) and was active as a scientific advisory board in various start-up companies. His work on industrial development resulted in numerous publications in the field of color management , workflow management and market development in the printing industry.

After moving to Océ , Has held senior positions in research and development as well as in global portfolio planning and marketing. In 1996 he joined the École Française de Papeterie et des industries Graphiques (EFPG) (Grenoble INP-Pagora). In 1998, he was the University of Grenoble habilitation , which he has since as Distinguished Professor teaches in the areas of future technology, business and portfolio strategy and marketing. In addition to studying physics, Has also attended INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau .

Stimulated by a long stay with Inuits in Canada, Has was and is active in the field of minority human rights (for many years he was a board member of the Society for Threatened Peoples , Göttingen, and the World Uranium Hearings, Munich). Since its inception, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Diversity Foundation, Göttingen. He dealt with the topic of tourism consequences as well as with questions of resource conservation and the consequences of excessive raw material extraction. In connection with his professional activity in the printing industry, these areas of interest led him to work and research in the areas of sustainability (see also Sustainability ) and the circular economy (e.g. World Economic Forum , work on Circular Economy 2016). A particular research focus for Has is the development of a flexible and individually adaptable tool for determining and evaluating the ecological footprint of industrial companies and the resulting consequences for politics, the environment and society.

At Océ, Has headed the product design and development of the LabelStream 4000 digital label printing system until the end . The printing system was awarded the prestigious iF Design Award in 2019 for its combination of aesthetic design with an excellent user experience .

Others

Has received the World Mac Award and the Seybold Award for Innovation for publications and the establishment of the ICC ( International Color Consortium ). He is the liaison professor of the Hans Böckler Foundation , Düsseldorf.

Has has two children and lives in a suburb of Munich.
