Michael Kann (born January 13, 1950 in Berlin ) is a German actor and director .

Life

Michael Kann was born in Berlin as the son of Jewish emigrants. After attending the polytechnic high school , he completed vocational training as a skilled worker for cooling system construction with a high school diploma. From 1968 to 1971 he studied at the State Drama School in Berlin. Since 1975 he has been engaged as an actor and assistant director at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin .

From 1975 to 1979 Michael Kann studied directing at the GDR Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam- Babelsberg . His diploma thesis is the film Natalja dir, dir Isaak with Jenny Gröllmann . At first he worked as an actor again after graduating and was only employed as an assistant director at DEFA after writing to the then Minister of Culture . After numerous script drafts, he was only able to draw attention to himself as a director late in the 1980s at the age of 36.

Michael Kann worked as a lecturer and lecturer until he retired. a. for the media workshop Potsdam. There he was in charge of the popular film holiday workshop for children and young people “Shoot your thing” for more than 15 years.

Private

Michael Kann was married to actress Jenny Gröllmann from 1973 to 1982 . He later married the actress Susanne Lüning .
