Michael Ungethüm

Michael Ungethüm (born September 8, 1943 in Munich ) is a German medical technician . From 1983 to 2009 he was CEO of Aesculap AG in Tuttlingen . Ungethüm has been chairman of the Bizerba supervisory board since February 4, 2010 .

Life

Michael Ungethüm finished an apprenticeship as and received on the second chance the High School . This was followed by a degree in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich , which he completed with a degree in engineering . He then received his doctorate in 1976 as Dr.-Ing. at the Technical University of Aachen . In 1977 he completed his habilitation at the medical faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

After seven years of scientific activity at the Orthopedic Clinic and Polyclinic of the University of Munich, Ungethüm started at Aesculap AG in 1977 as a deputy member of the board for research and development. In 1979 he was appointed full board member and in 1983 chairman of the Aesculap board. As a specialist in medical technology , Ungethüm was a member of the board of B. Braun Melsungen AG , a provider of medical products, from 1996 . He was also deputy chairman of the board of B. Braun Melsungen AG. During his time on the board of directors at Aesculap, Aesculap's turnover multiplied. In 1977 this was still 120 million D-Mark and, under Ungethüm, it broke through the billion mark for the first time with annual sales of 1.1 billion euros. In April 2009 Ungethüm retired. His successor as CEO of Aesculap was Hanns-Peter Knaebel .

From 1993 to 1998 Michael Ungethüm was President of the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry . Ungethüm is married and has two children.

Works

Ungethüm has so far published well over 150 scientific papers in the border areas between engineering, natural science and medical technology, including five monographs .
