Michael Zöller

Michael Zöller (born May 27, 1946 in Würzburg ) is a German sociologist .

Life

Zöller first completed a journalistic training and then studied sociology , political science , history and philosophy at the University of Frankfurt am Main , the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich . In 1973 he was at the Philosophical Faculty of the LMU Munich with the dissertation The Inability to Politics. Concept of politics and understanding of science from Humboldt to Habermas to Dr. phil. PhD.

He was a full professor of political sociology at the University of Bayreuth and headed the America Research Center there. He is also chairman of the Council on Public Policy . He has also worked at the University of Notre Dame , the University of Chicago , Stanford University , the International Center of Economic Research in Turin and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. He is currently a lecturer at the Munich School of Politics and visiting professor at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. His research interests are political economy , the history of ideas , the sociology of religion and the USA . He published several books and articles a. a. in the dictionary of sociology (keyword political sociology ) and in the classics of political thought (keyword Max Weber ).

From 1971 to 1976 he was chairman of the federal freedom of science . He was treasurer of the conservative association from 1978 to 1988. In 1974 he became a member of the German Education Council . Zöller is a board member of the Mont Pelerin Society .

He is married and has two daughters.
