Michael Jonathan Zegen (born February 20, 1979 in Ridgewood , New Jersey ) is an American actor , best known for his role as Damien Keefe from the series Rescue Me (2004-2011) and as Joel Maisel in the series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (since 2017) .

life and career

Michael Zegen was born one of three sons to a lawyer and a teacher in Ridgewood , New Jersey . He is of Jewish faith , his grandparents are Holocaust survivors . He graduated from Skidmore College in 2001 and later became a member of the New York sketch troupe Hottie $ Galore .

Zegen has also been active in film and television since 2001. He first appeared in a few short films before he took on the role of fireman Damien Keefe in the series Rescue Me in 2004 , a role he played repeatedly until 2011. He also appeared in series such as How to Make It in America , Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead , in the latter he played a supporting role as Randall Culver in the second season. He is also active in the theater. So he designed in 2014 for the Off-Broadway -Stück Bad Jews the role of Liam. Since 2017 he has played the role of Joel Maisel in the series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel .

He lives in New York City .
