Michail Semjonowitsch Schoifet ( Russian Михаил Семёнович Шойфет ; born August 26, 1947 in Vienna , Austria ; † October 22, 2013 in Germany) was a Russian hypnotherapist , hypnologist , author and writer . He developed his own method for psychophysical self-regulation .

In 1980 he created the Theater of Hypnosis, the first musical theater show of hypnosis in the Soviet Union, which took place in the Moscow Philharmonic from 1985 to 1992 . On September 21, 1994, the “Theater for Psychological Help by Michael Shoyfet” was registered by the Public Order Office. In the late 1990s, he taught at the School of Psychology of the Academy of Sciences of Russia. From 2001 to 2003 he ran the “Learn to rule over yourself” column in the weekly magazine “AIF Zdorovie”. In the 2000s Shoyfet made scientific research in the field of hypnology, he is a passionate popularizer of the hyposuggestive method.

Among other things, he wrote the books Training of Psychophysical Self- Regulation (2003), One Hundred Greatest Doctors (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008), Unexplained Secrets of Hypnosis (2006), Hypnosis: Criminals and Victims (2010), Psihofizicheskaja samoreguljacija. Bol'shoj sovremennyj internship (2010), media and spiritualists (2010) and articles on the history and practice of hypnosis.

Shoyfet wrote biographies of the German doctors AF Mesmer, S. Hahnemann , FJ Gall , J. Ch. Reil , JH Heinroth , KL Idelier, IB Friedreich , KG Carus , W. Shoyfet is the founder of stage hypnosis in Russia. He became famous in the 1980s thanks to his appearances on the scandalous program "Theater der Hypnose".

Shoyfet's stage hypnosis was very popular. Under the hypnosis, the audience began to play the roles imprinted by Shoyfet. The number of participants reached up to 300 people. According to media reports, these were some of the greatest hypnosis shows ever held. The performances lasted up to five hours. In addition to the show itself, Shoyfet lectured and taught self-hypnosis to everyone on the show. He also taught the techniques of psychological self-programming, the aim of which was to improve physical, creative and other skills. According to media reports, participation in such shows had a positive effect on the psyche of people, increased self-assessment.

The Shoyfets events were announced in newspapers and magazines Nedelya , Semya , Sobesednik , Moskovsky Komsomolets , Komsomolskaya Pravda , Gudok , Rossiyskie Vesti , Rossiyskaya Gazeta and on television.

Shoyfet's work has been rated as good by researchers in the field. The deputy director of the Institute of Psychology of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, Prof. Dr. Druzhinin VN says Shoyfet played an essential role in popularizing hypnosis and in raising society's interest in the phenomenon, calling it the "classic of Russian hypnosis".
