Michel Montecrossa (born October 28, 1945 in Vienna ; actually Michael Klostermann ) is a German media entrepreneur , book author , musician , painter, filmmaker as well as futurologist and consciousness researcher.

Life

1945–1968

Montecrossa's father, Dr. Kurt Klostermann, played the violin in Memphis at a young age, studied chemistry on his return to Europe and then worked as a freelance plastics merchant and art collector in Switzerland and Germany. Montecrossa's mother Aimée Alker was a choir singer in Vienna until her marriage and then worked in her husband's company. Due to the artistic open-mindedness of his parents, Michel Montecrossa came into contact with artists and business people from the start and was at times with a wandering group of artists. By studying the piano, guitar and harmonica by himself, he had his first public appearances at the age of twelve. He also sang in the Bavarian Radio as a member of Rudolf Kiermayer's children's choir.

From 1962 Michel Montecrossa received music lessons (piano, singing, guitar and basics of electronic music). From 1964 he attended the state-approved painting and drawing school "Munich Studio" run by Waki Zöllner. After graduating from painting and drawing school, she went on to study pedagogy and psychology . At the same time as attending the painting and drawing school, Michel Montecrossa studied film and photo technology as well as philosophy with private teachers .

In 1965 he presented a comprehensive exhibition of paintings, art objects and electronic compositions ("sound images") in the St. Konrad youth home in Neuaubing from November 14 to 21. In 1968 his light objects and electronic music were exhibited and presented from May 18 to 31 in the Kückels Gallery in Bochum, followed by a two-day program with light show, film and electronic music on November 23 and 24, 1968 in the "Andere Kino" in Westendstrasse, Munich.

1968-1981

After graduating, he worked as a freelance cartoonist for Moewig-Verlag , for which he created the "Shooting Star" series, and as a translator of philosophical and psychological works for Fischer Taschenbuchverlag . His paintings have been shown together with his electronic sound image compositions in various exhibitions in Germany. During this period he was a co-founder of the Mandala artist group, which dealt with future-oriented art.

Michel Montecrossa's artistic and philosophical interest brought him 1968-1969 in connection with the work of the Indian poet and philosopher Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950), who studied and grew up in Europe (mainly England) and returned to India after his college days, in order to combine the humanistic spirit of Europe with the Indian-Asiatic spiritual spirituality in his poetic and philosophical work. During these years Michel Montecrossa began to publish poems, including in the literary magazine "Der Leguan" by Gerhard Merz. He took part in the Schwabinger Weeks with artistic "Sens-Actions" and published his symbolic-surreal story "The Voice of the Divine and the First Step" in early 1969 . Michel Montecrossa began working as a film producer at this time and completed the film "The Great Original" in 1969 , which he designed similar to James Joyce's consciousness stream concept .

Also in 1968–1969, Michel Montecrossa's career as a singer and songwriter began with his first concerts in Munich and later in Europe and America. His song work grew into the 21st century to more than 2000 song and instrumental compositions and texts, which were performed internationally. The first publication of his songs was the LP "Songs from Another Time", released in 1968. From 1968 he began to deal with questions of climate change and world peace in his songs.

Mirapuri idea as a city of peace (1969)

At the end of 1969 he came into personal contact with the French artist and consciousness researcher Mira Alfassa (1878–1973), who lived in Pondicherry , South India, and Sri Aurobindo's partner . After a cultural tour through Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Michel Montecrossa came to Pondicherry in November 1969. Due to the previous written contact with Alfassa, he was able to visit her regularly until 1973 for discussions, mainly about culture and philosophy. During this time, the idea for "Mirapuri" as a European city of peace, which is supposed to help the realization of the ideal of human unity, arose with her . Montecrossa's basic philosophical work "The Sunrevolution" is based on his conversations with Mira Alfassa. In the following years Montecrossa came into contact with a number of philosophical personalities such as Jean Gebser , the Dalai Lama , Krishnamurti and Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker . With the latter, he conducted two talk shows on Bavarian Radio in the 1970s under the direction of Dr. Udo Reiter .

During this time he wrote various children's books ("Four Fairy Tales of Love") and drew cartoons (including "Sinus and the Earth Spirit"). Musically, in addition to song music, he turned to composing modern, classical instrumental music, some of which he combined with poetry recitations. In the field of film production, he was mainly active in documentaries and published a documentary film about the Dalai Lama's visit to Pondicherry.

From 1969 to 1981 Michel Montecrossa lived mainly in Auroville (South India), where he worked as an art teacher, musician, filmmaker and author. During this time he also worked with the musician Sunil Bhattacharya as a co-composer, producer and electric guitarist in nearby Pondicherry. He was introduced to him through Mira Alfassa, who was one of the pioneers of electronic music in India. During the summer holidays, Michel Montecrossa was in Europe for his diverse artistic activities, where he built up the Filmaur Multimedia - film and TV production company with the support of Alfassa. Alfassa then commissioned him to produce the " Meditations on Savitri " film series, which she described as her legacy to the world. The series is a film adaptation of the main poetic work Savitri by Sri Aurobindo on the basis of drawings and descriptions by Mira Alfassa, combined with her recitations of text passages from Savitri and her organ music. After its founding on April 24, 1972, the Filmaur production company was soon expanded to include the departments Mira Sound Germany, Miraprint - digital and offset printing and the Mirapuri publishing house, and is now Filmaur Multimedia Germany. At the time, Michel Montecrossa also starred in the series Marriage in Court , directed by Ruprecht Essberger , and produced an Auroville documentary and the documentary "Meditation in Mahabalipuram" for Swiss television.
