Michel Ouellet (born March 5, 1982 in Rimouski ) is a Canadian ice hockey player on the position of right winger . Since 2012 he has been under contract with Isothermic de Thetford Mines from Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey .
Career
The 1.83 m tall winger began his professional career with the Océanic de Rimouski in the Canadian Junior League LHJMQ , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft as 124th in the fourth round of the Pittsburgh Penguins . With the Océanic, Ouellet won the Memorial Cup in 2000 and thus the Canadian Junior Championship.
First, Ouellet was used by the Penguins in the farm teams Wheeling Nailers from the East Coast Hockey League and Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League , in 2003/04, in his first full season in the AHL, he was one of the best newcomers elected to the AHL All-Rookie Team . The attacker finally made his NHL debut on November 22, 2005 in the 5-4 victory of the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Washington Capitals . The Canadian scored both his first goal and his first assist in the highest North American professional league in two consecutive games against the Buffalo Sabers on December 16 and 17 of the same year.
In the 2006/07 season Ouellet made the leap into the regular Penguins, after the season he signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning , for which he played regularly in the NHL. Shortly after the start of the 2008/09 season , he was given to the Vancouver Canucks in a four-player transfer deal due to salary cap problems with the Lightning, which forced the team to deport him to the American Hockey League before the start of the season .
In the summer of 2009, his contract expired and neither in the NHL nor in the AHL received an invitation to a training camp. Therefore, he decided to move to Europe and signed a contract with HC Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A . After only one season, Michel Ouellet signed a contract with the Hamburg Freezers and switched to the German Ice Hockey League .
On July 1, 2011, he signed a one-year two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. On June 23, 2012 he was transferred to the Boston Bruins along with a draft pick. Tampa Bay received the rights to Benoît Pouliot for this . However, he completed no more use for Boston, but moved to the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey before the 2012/13 season , where he was signed by the Isothermic de Thetford Mines .
