Mickey Jupp (born March 6, 1944 in Worthing , England ) is a British musician . He is a songwriter, plays guitar and piano .

Band history

He founded his first band, The Black Diamonds , in 1963, followed by The Orioles , which released a single. He later formed The Jam with Robin Trower . The next time he tried, he founded Legend in 1969 . The band released their first album and two singles, one of them with the support of all of Procol Harum's musicians . The album and singles were unsuccessful and 2 years later he started another album with the same title, which went unnoticed at the time and later became a collector's rarity as the Red Boot album . After a third unsuccessful album, Legend withdrew.

Mickey Jupp began a solo career in 1977 and has recorded a number of good rhythm and blues records in the following years. His songs were reviewed by Gary Brooker , Elkie Brooks , Joe Cocker , Dave Edmunds , Chris Farlowe , Dr. Feelgood , Hamburg Blues Band , Kursaal Flyers , Nick Lowe and many others covered. With Keith Reid as manager and the advertising of Stiff Records Mickey Jupp achieved his greatest successes from 1978. In Germany he had his breakthrough in 1979 with the appearance at WDR - Rockpalast . The concert was released on VHS video and later on audio CD and video DVD. The success in Germany culminated in the fact that the following LP Oxford was not released in Great Britain in 1980, but only in Germany. Only the digital re-release as CD in 1997 came out on the island. The 1983 album Shampoo, Haircut & Shave was produced by Francis Rossi and Bernie Frost of Status Quo . In the mid-1980s, Mickey Jupp became a little quieter again, although he continued to be creative.
