history

The area around Mielenhausen was already settled before it was first mentioned in a document. In 1909 a forest worker found a stone ax to the west of the place, near Schorfhagen am Bramwald, which dates back to around 2500 BC. Can be dated BC. In 1961 a bronze dagger from the Middle Bronze Age was found on his property by a resident . 1160 in Catalogus donatorium Corbeiensium reported that a Heremannus place Mylenhausen gave away. The existence of the village is also confirmed by the witness Johannes de Mielenhusen in 1260 and 1263. The history of Mielenhausen is closely linked, at least from the middle of the 15th century, with the noble family of Mengershausen . They played a role in the conquest of Hann. Mündens during the Thirty Years' War and appear more and more in the documents of the Brunswick dukes. The founding of Glashütte goes back to that family , in Mielenhausen and the surrounding area they owned important property for over 400 years, as well as at times the jurisdiction. The bondage under a monastery or a landed gentry ended for Mielenhausen on September 18, 1844, but traces of the former dependency, for example that of Mengershausen, have been preserved to this day. So their coat of arms formed the starting point for the establishment of the local coat of arms of Mielenhausen. Until the regional reform , the village of Mielenhausen formed an independent municipality. On January 1, 1973 this was incorporated into the city of Münden. In the competition Our village should become more beautiful, the forerunner competition of Our village has a future , Mielenhausen won the silver medal in 1971, 1975 and 1979. As part of a lively club culture , the so-called Grenzbierfest developed every ten years in the post-war period , during which interested citizens walked the boundaries of the municipality marked by boundary stones , and the correctness of the municipality boundary with neighboring communities is determined. The individual boundary stones are auctioned, the buyer of which is supposed to take over the sponsorship of the stone in question for ten years and thus ensure the existence of the border. The symbolic meaning of this action is to represent a pacified and peaceful coexistence with the neighboring communities. In September 2015, among others, the writer Meike Winnemuth took part in this border inspection, who had visited Mielenhausen as her father's home village after a long time and felt it was "wise" to go around "both the inner and outer homeland" every ten years .
