history
One of the legacies that testify to a prehistoric settlement near Wiershausen is the Wiershausen shell stone .
In 990 the place was first mentioned as Vuizzereshusen , when King Otto III. the village donated to the Hilwartshausen monastery, as was the Corvey monastery in the village in later years . The local church is a new building from the years 1857 to 1859, but it houses a bell from 1247. Some councilors in Münden come from the 14th century, for example a Henricus de Wickershusen for 1342 and a Heinrich von Wygershusen for 1414 . Their name suggests a noble family, or at least their place of origin. During the 17th century, linen weaving developed into an important line of business in Wiershausen. At that time, almost a tenth of the 278 inhabitants were linen weavers, a century later, in 1719 as many as 58 linen weavers are recorded in the village files. There are three mills as well as a sand and clay pit.
The number of inhabitants rose rapidly in the 19th century: if there were 55 people in the village around 1700, there were already 598 in 1867. Shortly before the Second World War , the village had 514 inhabitants, in 1945 860 people settled in the village. In 1979 980 inhabitants were reached. In the following years, however, the number decreased again slightly.
On January 1, 1973 Wiershausen was incorporated into the city of Münden. At the end of 2018, the place had 697 inhabitants. Herbert König is the local mayor.
The place is on the district road K217 from Hann. Münden to Meensen . A community road leads to the neighboring town of Lippoldshausen . The next train station is in Hann. Münden.
