Mihran Harutjunjan
Mihran Harutjunjan , in Russia: Migran Edikowitsch Arutjunjan ( Armenian Միհրան Հարությունյան ; Russian Мигран Эдикович Арутюнян ; born March 25, 1989 in Etschmiadzin , Armenian SSR , USSR ) is an Armenian wrestler who grew up in Russia and was born in this country until 2012. He was Russian champion in 2012, Armenian champion in 2013, junior vice world champion in 2009 and silver medalist at the European Games in 2015 , both in the Greco-Roman style in the lightweight .
Career
Mihran Harutjunjan moved to Moscow with his parents when he was 4 years old. He began wrestling as a teenager in 2000, focusing on the Greco-Roman style. He was a member of the CSKA Moscow sports club and was coached by Aram Sargsjan , Mnazakan Iskandarjan , a former world champion in wrestling, and (since 2009) by Ruben Tatuljan. He was a student (sports management). At a height of 1.65 meters, it wrestles in the lightweight, weight class up to 66 kg body weight.
As a junior he achieved remarkable success under the name Migran Arutjunjan. In 2006 he won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 63 kg at the European Junior Championships (age group Cadets) in Istanbul. He also won the same medal at the Junior European Championship (age group Juniors) 2007 in Belgrade in the lightweight behind Aleksandar Maksimović , Serbia and Rafiq Hüseynov , Azerbaijan. He also won a bronze medal at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Istanbul. In the lightweight he only had to give way to the Iranian Saeid Mourad Abdvali and Aleksandar Maksimović. Migran Arutjunjan finally achieved the best result at international junior championships in 2009 when he was runner- up in Ankara behind Saeid Mourad Abdvali and ahead of Frank Stäbler (Germany) and Howhannes Warderesjan (Armenia).
After his junior years he was used by the Russian Wrestling Federation in many significant and important international tournaments, in which he always achieved excellent results, but not in an international championship.
In his own country Migran Arutjunjan was in 2011 behind Juri Denisov and before Adam Kurak and Islambek Albijew Russian runner-up and in 2012 even Russian champion before Juri Denisov, Vasily Lukow and Adam Kurak. Despite this championship title, he was not nominated by the Russian Wrestling Federation for the elimination tournaments for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Russian wrestling federation relied on the former world champion Ambako Watschadze and on Islambek Albijew, but both of them failed to meet the qualifying standards. The lightweight in the Greco-Roman style was the only weight class in which no Russian wrestler could qualify for the Olympic Games in London.
Then Mihran Harutjunjan decided to continue his career under the Armenian flag (coach: Samwel Geworgjan). In his place of residence in Moscow he was therefore no longer given access to wrestling training halls and had to look for private training opportunities. In 2013 he became the Armenian champion; internationally he was only able to compete again in mid-2014 after the two-year vesting period. At the 2014 World Championships in Tashkent, he won two fights and only lost in the quarterfinals against Tamás Lőrincz , Hungary. In December 2014 he won two international tournaments in Russia ( Barnaul and Moscow ).
In his second win, however, he suffered a knee injury that prevented his start in the 2015 Armenian Championship. That was a situation that challenged his involvement in the 2015 European Games in Baku. His win of the silver medal, where he lost in the final to Artyom Surkov , Russia, was not only his greatest achievement to date, but also the only medal for Armenia. His next start was the 2015 World Championships in Las Vegas (USA), which were also a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics . Here he took 5th place.
Private
Mihran Harutjunjan is married and lives with his family in Moscow.
