Sharur Vardanyan

Sharur Wardanjan (born April 4, 1988 ) is a Swedish wrestler . He took 3rd place in the Greco-Roman style in the lightweight (up to 66 kg body weight) at the European Championships in Vilnius in 2009 .

Career

Sharur Wardanyan, the son of Armenian parents, began wrestling in Sweden. He belongs to the sports club Spaervaegens BK Stockholm . He only wrestles in the Greco-Roman style and is trained by Jimmy Samuelsson . In the 2008/2009 season he was in the German Bundesliga for SV Wacker Burghausen .

In Sweden he achieved his first successes at national events as a youth and was also able to place in the front field at international junior championships. So he came in the European Junior Championships 2005 in Tirana in featherweight on the 5th place. At the Swedish Junior Championships in 2007 he reached 2nd place in the lightweight and came in the same year at the Swedish Senior Championships behind Robert Rosengren and Vahan Juharjan in 3rd place.

In 2008 he became Swedish junior welterweight champion and finished 11th with two wins at the junior world welterweight championship this year in Istanbul . At the Nordic Championship 2008 he came in welterweight behind Joakim Aardalen from Norway and Valtteri Moisio from Finland in 3rd place.

He made a big step forward in 2009. At the Swedish championship of this year he had to be content with 2nd place behind Vahan Juharjan, but he was used at the European Seniors Championship in Vilnius and won there a victory over Chosrow Melikjan from Armenia , a defeat against Michail Semenow from Belarus and victories over Frederik Ekström from Denmark and Damian Zuba from Poland the bronze medal .
