Michael Wiedemann (film producer)

Michael "Mike" Wiedemann (born May 24, 1949 in Kassel ) is a German film producer and line producer . He also appeared sporadically as an actor . In addition, Wiedemann has been involved in film funding for many years and as director of the Lünen cinema festival .

Life

Wiedemann was born in Kassel in 1949. There he passed the Abitur at the Wilhelmsgymnasium in 1968 . After studying at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), he worked from 1972 to 1974 as the production manager in the film department of the HFF. From 1974 he worked as a freelance production and line manager for feature films and television productions. During this time he worked with filmmakers like Wim Wenders , Wolfgang Petersen , Peter F. Bringmann , Reinhard Hauff and Margarethe von Trotta . In 1982 he was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize as a young producer for his work .

From 1978 to 1983, Wiedemann was co-partner and managing director of Tura film and television production in Munich. This was followed by a job in the production of Neue Constantin Film.

From 1986, Wiedemann headed the sales office in the North Rhine-Westphalia film office , of which he was managing director from 1994 to 2002. From 2003 to 2010 he headed the Production 2 department at the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW .

Since February 2005, Wiedemann has also been director of the Lünen Cinema Festival .

At the 69th Berlinale he was awarded the Honorary Prize of Independent Film Distributors by AG Verleih for his work .
