Miles Kane (born March 17, 1986 in Birkenhead , Wirral Peninsula ; actually Miles Peter Kane ) is an English singer and songwriter . In addition to his activities in various indie rock bands such as The Little Flames , The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets , he has also been a solo artist since 2011.

Music career

2004 to 2007: "The Little Flames" and formation of "The Rascals"

In December 2004 the band The Little Flames was founded. The members Eva Petersen (vocals), Joe Edwards (bass), Mat Gregory (guitar), Greg Mighall (drums) and Kane were introduced to each other by DJ Babylon Fox . Kane also appeared as a guitarist alongside Gregory. The band was under contract with the independent label Deltasonic until they broke up in May 2007 . After the group released two songs in 2005 and one song in 2007, the debut album should be released in June 2007 under the name The Day Is Not Today . However, due to the previous breakup of the group, the album remained unreleased.

After the breakup of the band The Little Flames , Kane formed the group The Rascals with Edwards and Mighall . While the other two kept their original instruments, this time Kane took on the role of lead singer. Their debut EP was released on December 9, 2007 and was also distributed by Deltasonic.

2008 to 2009: Releases of "The Rascals" and "The Last Shadow Puppets"

After it was announced in August 2007 that Kane would record an album together with the lead singer of the British indie rock band Arctic Monkeys , Alex Turner , and the music producer James Ford , the title was released on April 14, 2008 The Age of Unterstatement is the first single from this album. The newly formed band appears under the name The Last Shadow Puppets . On April 15, 2008, the group's debut album was released on Domino Records , it was also called The Age of Understatement and reached number one in the UK and number 111 in the US. In June, the band's debut album The Rascals was released , but only reached number 100 in the UK.

In August 2009, Kane announced that he was leaving The Rascals to pursue a solo career. For his solo career, he signed a recording deal with Columbia Records .

2010 until today: solo career

On November 19, 2010, Kane's debut single Inhaler appeared , which, however, did not reach a chart position in the United Kingdom. He then went on tour and supported The Courteeners in December and Beady Eye at some shows in March . On February 18, 2011, a second single from Kane's debut album was released. However, Come Closer did not enter the charts either. After a third song, Rearrange , was released at the end of March , which did not reach the UK hit lists, Miles Kane's debut album Color of the Trap was released on May 6, 2011 . This comprised twelve tracks, six of which were written with Alex Turner , a member of The Last Shadow Puppets . There was also a song on the album that featured Noel Gallagher in the background. The album peaked at number eleven in the UK. Kane then spent the rest of the year promoting the album, supporting the band Arctic Monkeys in June and July 2011 and January and February 2012 at concerts in England, France, Germany, Australia and Spain. In December 2011 he toured the UK with the Kasabian group .

After all members had expressed their interest in continuing the project in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Kane announced in January 2012 that The Last Shadow Puppets will probably start work on a new album at the end of the year.

On June 3, 2013, Kane's second solo album, Don't Forget Who You Are, was released .
